Les Sylphides.

Les Sylphides is one of the few surviving ballets created by Michel Fokine for Diaghelev’s Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo that is still widely performed today.

Created to the music of Chopin and originally titled Chopiniana, this one-act ballet has no narrative. Instead it’s intention is to create a feeling - a vibe, if you will - evoking romantic era ballets such as Giselle, depicting the mythical fairy-like sylphs. In addition to being performed by professional companies world-wide, Les Sylphides is often used by professional ballet schools as a teaching and performance piece. It is often used in repertoire, variations, and pas de deux classes as an example of romantic-style choreography.
